The World’s 50 Best Bars 2022 are set to be announced during a prestigious, nail-biting night in Barcelona this October. Sponsored by Perrior, the event will be the first to take place outside of the UK in 13 years.
2021 saw London named the drinking capital of the world, with The Connaught Bar titled the best bar on the planet. An Italian accent and cubist design touches characterise the ritzy W1 hotel’s bar, where gigantic mirrors reflect twinkling ceiling lights. Here, find the disciples – cocktail lovers with the finest of palettes sipping late into the night on martinis and an array of mixologist-created specialties. The menu of 2021’s best bar in the world and Europe reads like a brochure; sought-after wines from the cellar, an exceptionally wide range of spirits and vintage cocktails for the most dedicated of visitors.
London’s Tayēr + Elementary came in second; Paradiso in Barcelona came third; the Clumsies in Athens ranked fourth, and Florería Atlántico was the highest ranking entry outside of Europe – the Buenos Aires favourite scooped the best bar in South America award. Singapore saw three of its bars make the top ten, while Tokyo, Milan and Hong Kong were some of the other cities named as superior drinking destinations.
This year, nominees will gather in the Catalan capital from Monday 3 October to partake in an invite-only bartender’s feast. The World’s Best 50 Bars gala event follows on Tuesday 4 October, with the awards ceremony streamed live on Facebook and Twitter. The winner will have been decided by an academy of more than 650 anonymous drinks aficionados spread across the globe.
In anticipation of the October event, bars 100 – 51 have been announced, offering a taste of what’s to come.
